Our primary goal is to ensure that older people living in the community feel connected to those around them so that they continue to live independently and lead fulfilling lives.

We provide a warm, friendly environment, and a range of activities tailored for older people, including:

  • exercises
  • arts and crafts
  • entertainment
  • guest speakers
  • games and activities
  • van outings
  • morning and afternoon tea
  • a daily hot midday meal

Our friendly staff and volunteers are available for advice and support. We provide transport in our comfortable Kauri Centre van for those who are unable to drive or prefer not to.

We provide time out for carers and families, who can rest in the knowledge that they can leave their loved one with us for the day in an enjoyable, safe, and caring environment.

The small charge of $10 per day to attend our centres goes towards refreshments, activities, and running costs.

Volunteers

Our co-ordinators are supported by a team of volunteers who make our work possible.

Our volunteers say that working at Kauri Centre is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We provide training and support, so please contact us if you would like to become a volunteer.

Our Community

At the Kauri Centre we see ourselves as part of the communities we live in. Our outings are planned around local beaches, parks, concerts, gardens, and landmarks.

Anglican Care Waiapu

We are part of Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW), an organisation delivering a range of social services throughout Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, and Hawke’s Bay. You can find out more about ACW here.
